Bigfork
The village at the mouth of the Swan
Bigfork is where we live. Electric Avenue fills up in July, the playhouse runs, and the parking is gone by six. In February the same street is quiet enough to hear the Swan River going under the bridge.
The village sits where the Swan comes into Flathead Lake, which is why the lakefront costs what it does. Off the water and up the hill you are in a different price band. My office is on Electric Avenue and I have been in this town since 1995, so I can tell you which end of it you are actually buying into.
Most of what sells outside the village is on a private well and a septic system. That is normal here. It is also the part a buyer coming from a city has never had to ask about.
