Kalispell
The town everything else drives to
Kalispell is the working center of the valley. The hospital is here, the airport is six miles out, and most of the jobs and most of the houses sit inside the city or on the ring roads around it.
The census has it adding about a quarter of its population since 2020, and you can see where: the subdivisions north and west of town. The Flathead Beacon counted 520 building permits in the city in 2025, 406 of them multi-family. That is a different Kalispell than the one I found in 1995.
If you want services within ten minutes and a house that is not on a well, this is the town. It is also where the median softened while days on market stretched to 138 last February, by the Beacon's reading of the MLS numbers. That is an opening for a buyer and a pricing problem for a seller.
