Polson
The south end of the lake
Polson sits at the south end of Flathead Lake, in Lake County and on the Flathead Reservation. It is an agricultural trading town first and a lake town second, and it prices below the north shore for both reasons.
It is about an hour from Kalispell and about the same to the airport. That drive is the trade you are making. In return there is a hospital in town, a grocery, and four schools of its own.
Lake County permits its own wastewater systems and buying on the Reservation carries rules the rest of the valley does not. I have appraised in Lake County for years. I would rather you hear about the paperwork now than at closing.
